A monthly poetry series featuring Vermont writers. Thursdays at The Front.
This month: Geof Hewitt + Samantha Kolber! Free and open to the public.
Geof Hewitt lives in Calais with Janet, his wife of 50 years. Their two adult children live nearby and their two almost-grown grandsons work freelance as hunting and river guides across the country. Geof started writing poems at age 17 and says he "hasn't grown up since."
Samantha Kolber, of Montpelier, wins awards for poetry and pie. She has a 20-year-old son, a 6-year-old daughter, a 2-year-old Beagle-mix, and a 17-year-old cat named Sylvia (after Sylvia Plath). Samantha started writing poems at age 11, but it wasn’t until she met Geof Hewitt when she was 23 that she learned what poetry could be. She is the new owner and publisher of Rootstock Publishing, and she has one chapbook, Birth of a Daughter, which was published in 2020.
